First International Forum of Philosophy of Law and European Criminal Justice

Messina-Siracusa, 15-17 June 2020

On 15-17 June 2020 the I International Forum of European Criminal Justice and Philosophy of Law on “Presumption of innocence and judicial reasoning” will take place in Messina and Siracusa, organized by the chairs of Philosophy of Law and European Criminal Justice at Messina University, respectively held by Prof. Alessio Lo Giudice and Prof. Stefano Ruggeri.
The main purpose of this Forum, which falls within the international initiatives undertaken by the Law Department of Messina University, is to promote the interest for academic research and an active approach to legal problems by young students and practitioners of different European countries. The Forum will host teams from Italian Universities, as well as partner Universities of Messina University among those belonging to the Law Department’s Erasmus Network.
All the teams are called upon to face – with interdisciplinary approach and under the supervision of one or more experienced researcher or practitioner – a problematic issue concerned with the general topic of the Conference, among those proposed in the Attachment, by elaborating a position paper, which will be presented and discussed by a specialised scholar during the Forum. In order to select the discussants properly, the position papers must be delivered to the Organizing Committee on 15 May 2020 the latest.
Participation in the Forum is fee-free. The Forum Organisation, moreover, will take care of social meals and transfer costs, while the teams involved should cover their travel and accommodation costs.
